After unveiled a first look a few weeks ago, Netflix has released the first full-length Lost in Space reboot trailer, giving us an extensive peek at the highly anticipated new sci-fi series. It's clear from the get-go that this may be one of Netflix's most expensive ventures yet, as this looks less like a sci-fi TV series and more like a blockbuster sci-fi movie. The streaming service's most expensive shows previously have been the period pieces The Get Down and The Crown, but I would not be surprised in the slightest to learn that they surpassed their own record with Lost in Space.

Created by Dracula Untold screenwriting duo Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless with Prison Break and Once Upon a Time in Wonderland alum Zack Estrin serving as showrunner, Lost in Space is described as a “dramatic and modern reimagining” of the classic 1960s sci-fi series. The story takes place 30 years in the future, when space colonization is now a reality, and revolves around the Robinson family as they become one of a few selected to go and create a better world on a new planet. But during their venture, the Robinsons find themselves thrown off course and struggling to find the way towards their new home.

While Netflix recently launched the sci-fi series Altered Carbon, that was more of an action noir, whereas this very much looks to be an action-adventure series. I'm actually pretty impressed by the effects on display, and nabbing Parker Posey for the key role of Dr. Smith is enough to get me to watch at least the first episode.

Check out the Lost in Space reboot trailer below. The show stars Toby Stephens, Molly Parker, Ignacio Serricchio, Taylor Russell, Mina Sundwall, Maxwell Jenkins, and Raza Jaffrey. All 10 episodes of the first season debut on Netflix on April 13th.

Here’s the synopsis for Lost in Space:

Lost in Space is a Netflix Original dramatic and modern reimagining of the classic 1960’s science fiction series. Set 30 years in the future, colonization in space is now a reality, and the Robinson family is among those tested and selected to make a new life for themselves in a better world. But when the new colonists find themselves abruptly torn off course en route to their new home they must forge new alliances and work together to survive in a dangerous alien environment, lightyears from their original destination.

A Netflix Original, Lost in Space stars TOBY STEPHENS (Black Sails, Die Another Day) as John Robinson, and MOLLY PARKER (House of Cards, Deadwood) as Maureen Robinson, the family’s parental leaders who are struggling with their estranged relationship in the midst of trying to keep their family safe. As the Robinson kids, TAYLOR RUSSELL (Falling Skies) is the strong-willed and confident Judy, MINA SUNDWALL (Maggie’s Plan, Freeheld) is the quick-witted and definitive middle-child Penny, and MAX JENKINS (Sense8, Betrayal) is the curious and sensitive Will Robinson, the youngest and most vulnerable of the clan, who forms an unlikely and inexplicable bond with a sentient robotic alien being.

Stranded along with the Robinsons are two outsiders who find themselves thrown together by circumstance and a mutual knack for deception. The unsettlingly charismatic Dr. Smith played by PARKER POSEY (Café Society, Mascot, A Mighty Wind), is a master manipulator with an inscrutable end game. And the roguish, but inadvertently charming Don West, played by IGNACIO SERRICCHIO (Bones, The Wedding Ringer), is a highly-skilled, blue collar contractor, who had no intention of joining the colony, let alone crash landing on a lost planet.
