Showtime has released the first teaser trailer and premiere date for the upcoming limited series The Loudest Voice. Based on extensive reporting by Gabriel Sherman in his bestselling book, The Loudest Voice in the Room, which included interviews with more than 600 people, the limited series chornicles the downfall of Fox News founder Roger Ailes, who grew the network into a conservative powerhouse before being forced out after numerous sexual harassment accusations and settlements came to light.
Russell Crowe fills the role of the larger-than-life figure, who died in 2017. This is very much just a teaser trailer that gives us a mere feeling of what the show will end up being, but Crowe appears wholly transformed as does Naomi Watts, who plays Fox News host Gretchen Carlson—the woman largely responsible for bringing Ailes down.
The first episode of the series was written by Tom McCarthy (Spotlight) and Sherman, and the show is a co-production between Showtime and Blumhouse Television. Loudest Voice is also not the only Roger Ailes project in town, as Jay Roach is also directing a feature film covering similar territory with Charlize Theron filling the lead role of Megyn Kelly.
Check out the first Loudest Voice trailer below. The series also stars Sienna Miller as Ailes’ wife Elizabeth, Seth MacFarlane as former Fox News PR chief Brian Lewis, Simon McBurney (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) as News Corp leader Rupert Murdoch, Annabelle Wallis (Peaky Blinders) as former Fox News booker Laurie Luhn and Aleksa Palladino (Boardwalk Empire) as Ailes’ longtime assistant Judy Laterza. Guest stars include Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Josh Charles (The Good Wife) as Casey Close, Gretchen Carlson’s husband and Josh Stamberg (The Affair) as former Fox executive, Bill Shine.
The seven-episode limited series The Loudest Voice premieres on Showtime on June 30th.
