Not since The Animatrix in 2003 have I been so hyped for an animated anthology. That collection of mature stories, told in various styles pulled from the many, many varieties of animation, were obviously tied into the early 2000s hit franchise, The Matrix. More than 15 years later, it's time for an evolution of that idea. And with that in mind, we happily bring you the exclusive, NSFW, definitely-not-for-the-kiddos reveal of the first trailer and poster for Love, Death & Robots.

Below, you'll find an insane minute of images that you may not be able to comprehend, but on some subliminal level, you be left wanting to know more. This is Love, Death & Robots, the brainchild of Tim Miller (Deadpool, Terminator: Dark Fate) and David Fincher (Mindhunter). The Oscar-nominated filmmakers made it their mission to deliver top-of-the-line art while conveying something culturally relevant and mature. We'll have more on the project below, but we think it's best to let the trailer speak for itself.

Check out our exclusive reveal of the Love Death & Robots trailer below:

Sentient dairy products, werewolf soldiers, robots gone wild, garbage monsters, cyborg bounty hunters, alien spiders and blood-thirsty demons from hell - all converge in eighteen NSFW animated stories.

Presented by Tim Miller & David Fincher.

Love Death + Robots lands on Netflix March 15th.

The shorts you just got a glimpse of span a host of genres, from science fiction and fantasy, to horror and comedy. But you also caught a variety of animation formats teased in that trailer, including traditional 2D to photo-real 3D CGI. The full list of shorts will cover a variety of adult topics including racism, government, war, free will, and human nature, whittled down from hundreds of authors and stories, many of which were discovered by Miller decades ago. Each 5-15 minute long segment was created by different teams of filmmakers from around the world, including animators from Hungary, France, Canada, and Korea among others.

Here's what Miller had to say in a previous press release:

Love, Death & Robots is my dream project, it combines my love of animation and amazing stories. Midnight movies, comics, books and magazines of fantastic fiction have inspired me for decades, but they were relegated to the fringe culture of geeks and nerds of which I was a part. I’m so fucking excited that the creative landscape has finally changed enough for adult-themed animation to become part of a larger cultural conversation.”

The anthology, which is also executive produced by Jennifer Miller and Josh Donen, will arrive on Netflix this March 15th. Add it to your watch list today! In addition to the trailer above, we also have the new poster artwork to share with you, included after a selection of images below:
