Netflix has released a new Luke Cage trailer online. For those who didn’t watch Jessica Jones (go watch it, now!), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) is a super-strong crimefighter with impenetrable skin. While he was a solid supporting character in Jessica’s story, now he gets the spotlight in his own Netflix series, and this trailer shows off the stakes.

We get a look at the villain, Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes (Mahershala Ali), and it will be interesting to see how the show pits him against Luke Cage. With Daredevil, it’s a martial artist taking on other martial artists. Jessica Jones had super strength, but her opponent, Killgrave could get inside people’s minds. In the comics, Cottonmouth also has super strength like Luke Cage, and I’m curious to see if that carries over into the show.

What’s even cooler about this trailer is that it shows Luke Cage as a man of the community. Daredevil speaks in the abstract about wanting to help his city, but we rarely see him interacting with it. Luke Cage feels like a street-level hero, and I’m excited to see the kind of dynamic he’ll have with other characters and to see how his show compares to the Netflix-Marvel series we’ve seen thus far.

Check out the Luke Cage trailer below. The show also stars Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Theo Rossi as Shades, Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe, and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple. Luke Cage premieres on Netflix on September 30th.

Here’s the official synopsis for Luke Cage:

After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.
