There’s no new Madea movie hitting theaters this year for the first time in three years, but you’re not completely off the hook.  Tyler Perry may have swapped his Madea getup for a super dapper suit to portray Tanner Bolt in David Fincher’s Gone Girl, but he’s still unleashing his inner Madea for a new animated film, Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Tough Love.

I’ve completely lost patience for the film franchise and for Madea in general, but I’ve also got to admit, the new Madea’s Tough Love trailer actually makes me think that the character would have been better suited for animation all along.  That voice is as grating as ever and the jokes aren’t particularly amusing either, but it is easier to be a little more forgiving when viewing her antics in cartoon format.  Take a look at the trailer for yourself after the jump.  Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Tough Love hits Digital HD on January 13, 2015 and will also makes its way onto DVD and VOD on January 20, 2015.
