Mads Mikkelsen Praises His Rogue One Director, Gareth Edwards

The Council looks at the continuing saga of rumors that have been making the rounds in regards to the Rogue One: Star Wars Story movie. This time, it's Mads Mikkelsen who is doing the talking;  who plays an unconfirmed role in the movie, rumored to be the scientist behind the Death Star. Because there are so many stories out there alleging the production is in the trouble, the Council here note how nice it is that an actor is coming to the defense of their director, with Mikkelsen praising Godzilla director Gareth Edwards.

Steven Spielberg Talks Convincing J.J. Abrams to Direct The Force Awakens

And so the story goes - looks like Steven Spielberg deserves some credit for convincing director J.J. Abrams to direct Star Wars The Force Awakens. Speaking at an event hosted by THR, Spielberg told a story about how he set up dinner with J.J. and his wife in order to convince him to take on the seventh episode in the series. The Council discuss this story and how amazing it is to consider.

John Williams Given Lifetime Achievement Award by AFI

In a story that seems to be long overdue, John Williams received a lifetime achievement award from AFI and a number of people he's worked with showed up to sing their praises. Naturally, many people talked about his scores, with Star Wars being mentioned a number of times. But what's the most interesting here is when George Lucas showed up to not only show John Williams with praise, crediting him with much of the success for Star Wars, but Lucas also confirmed that he is, in fact, retired from making movies.

J.J. Abrams Talks His Favorite Musical Track from The Force Awakens


Speaking at the same AFI event for John Williams, J.J. Abrams spoke about his favorite cues from the Force Awakens soundtrack - which include - shocker -  Rey's theme as well as the March of the Resistance. Abrams also revealed that John Williams gave him a leather bound collection of sheet notes of the March of the Resistance as a gift after scoring TFA.

What’s the Deal with Canon?

Here now is the segment called What’s the Deal with Canon – a discussion on everything in the world of canon that isn’t one of the movies be it Episodes or Star Wars’ Stories. "Canon" here include the tv shows, books, comics and video games with this week's topics including the recap from the E3 panel, the new comics issues from Marvel's Star Wars' run, and the cancelled Star Wars TV series that was an inspiration for the new God of War video game.
