Last week, we got a full track from Hans Zimmer's score for Man of Steel.  The song, "An Ideal Hope" was a rousing piece, and an encouraging indication of the film's music.  Today, a second track, "DNA" has been released.  Zimmer tells Rolling Stone, " "My inspiration for the music came from trying to celebrate all that is good and kind in the people of America's heartland, without cleverness or cynicism. Just from the heart."  Zimmer also says that "The music is less about the icon that Superman is, and more about the outsider with extraordinary powers and his struggle to become a part of humanity."  This estrangement seems to be the over-arching theme of the picture, and it looks like it's coming together in an exciting fashion.  "DNA" is a thrilling track that should play even better when paired with the action on the screen.  Hit the jump to listen.

Here’s the official synopsis for Man of Steel:

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.
