In the debut edition of Limited Paper, we named Mark Englert as our first-ever “Thing Worth Getting Excited About”, pointing to his outstanding posters for The Thing, Stephen King’s It, and The Walking Dead as proof of his awesomeness.  Well, it’s now a few months later, and it appears that we weren’t the only ones getting excited by Mark’s work:  just today, Mondo announced their first-ever collaboration with Englert…and from the looks of it, it’s going to be a doozy.Want to see Mark Englert’s Back to the Future poster?  Mondo’s latest Adventure Time poster?  Meet me after the jump, my fellow poster nerds.Holy crap.  That’s all I can say.  Rather than starting things off with two or three paragraphs of nonsense, let’s just get right down to it, and take a look at what’s got us so excited today:

  • Back to the Future by Mark Englert

That’s right:  we’ve been waiting for it forever, and now it’s finally happened—one of Limited Paper’s all-time favorite artists, Mark Englert, has finally been picked up by the fine folks at Mondo to produce a poster.  The fact that they’ve brought him on for the latest installment of their Back to The Future series is just…words fail us.

Obviously, Mark’s come a long way in the past few months, and Limited Paper continues to be in awe of his success.   Not that we had anything to do with this pairing, but we are feeling extremely proud of Englert’s progress, and are thrilled to see him joining the Mondo family.  His Back to The Future prints seem to combine the absolute best of his abilities—the landscape-style, the glow-in-the-dark-inks, the easter eggs (look out for the “Lone Pine Mall” there in the corner)—and have resulted in something truly special his first time out.  This is pretty amazing stuff, and…well, good luck to anyone attempting to snag one of these tomorrow.  The competition’s going to be fierce.

But, wait, that’s not all Mondo has headed our way tomorrow afternoon!  Here’s the latest in their Adventure Time series (a series that must—at this point—have more posters in it than any other series Mondo’s ever done:  true or false?  Maybe Star Wars had more?):

  • Adventure Time:  The Creeps by JJ Harrison
  • 24x36”
  • $40 edition of 225

  • Adventure Time:  The Creeps by JJ Harrison
  • 24x36”
  • $65 variant edition of 90

Wow.  So, in case you’re unawares, JJ Harrison’s the artist who did that still-in-high-demand "My Neighbor Jake" giclee back during Mondo’s Adventure Time gallery show.  That print’s still incredibly hard to find, and this one looks like it’s going to be in high-demand for Adventure Time collectors, as well.

Things have been relatively quiet on the Mondo front lately, but it’s looking like all that’s about to change:  not only is this quartet of amazing new prints dropping tomorrow, but Mondo’s also got another full-blown gallery show opening this Friday (we’ll have a walking tour video from that show, along with interviews in our Friday writeup from the show’s frontlines), a slew of great new prints dropping during Fantastic Fest…and some other pretty incredible things on the horizon soon thereafter.  Better get your wallets in fighting shape, folks:  we think the next few months are going to good-looking…but brutal.

As always, you can stay tuned for more from Limited Paper in the near future:  we’ve got giveaways, a new contest, interviews, some exclusive video footage, reports from Fantastic Fest, and a ton of other stuff waiting in the wings for you over the next few weeks!  If you’re a gallery, company, artist, or just some guy/girl with a hot poster-related tip to share, you can reach Limited Paper directly at LimitedPaper@gmail.com.  Everyone else should head on over to Twitter and make sure you’re following us via @LimitedPaper (we’re doing a big giveaway once we hit 1,000 followers, so get signed up ASAP), and everyone who’s not down with social media can sound off in the comments section below.  Stay tuned, folks!  Lots of exciting stuff on the way!
