Back in July we reported that The Wolf of Wall Street writer Terence Winter (who has also penned episodes of The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire) was writing the Untitled Mike Tyson Movie for star Jamie Foxx. At the time I took this as a good sign that this film wouldn't just be a blind celebration of Tyson's life, since there are certainly some troubling elements there that shouldn't be swept under the rug. And Winter's withering take on Jordan Belfort made me more than comfortable. But now it seems like we're getting the entire kinetic bio-pic enchilada, since it seems as though Martin Scorsese himself has come onboard to direct.

Foxx told Power 105's The Breakfast Club (via Uproxx):

“I just went in with Paramount with Mike Tyson. So I’m going to do the Mike Tyson story. Listen, to be in the same room pitching Mike Tyson to Paramount, Mike Tyson is on one side, I’m on the other side and doing Mike Tyson at the same time. And Martin Scorsese at the helm. This will be the first boxing movie that Martin Scorsese has done since Raging Bull.”

That certainly sounds as though Scorsese is onboard, though there is a chance his deal is not done yet since there has yet to be an official announcement. I'd love nothing more than to see another Scorsese/Winter collaboration, so bring it on. You can listen to the entire interview below.
