Big screen, small screen, ABC, Netflix, and now Fox (and by extension their FX brand) … Marvel will stop at nothing to take over every corner of the media world when it comes to adapting their comic materials. The latest project is Legion, “the story of a troubled young man who may be more than human.” Fargo TV series creator Noah Hawley will write the pilot and serve as executive producer, alongside Lauren Shuler Donner, Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb, Jim Chory, and John Cameron. (A lot of X-Men production folks, since lead character Haller is part of the X-Men universe as Professor Xavier's mutant son).

Marvel and FX productions will both be involved with the financing, although FX will handle the actual production. The pilot will introduce the story of David Haller:

Since he was a teenager, David has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.

Nick Grad, President of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions, said of the project:

Legion is just the sort of ambitious story that Noah excels at. His adaption of Fargo for television was one of the most acclaimed television events in recent memory. It’s also an honor to partner with Marvel on Legion and to enlist such an accomplished team of Executive Producers to create this pilot.

Approaching this and Hawley’s involvement with cautious optimism. I was not a fan of Fargo’s first season (I know, I know — the cheese stands alone), but I very much love what I’ve seen so far of the second (you can read my full review here). FX has been branching out with some new kinds of content lately, but getting into the comic game is definitely a different kind of series for them. But like Netflix’s take on Marvel properties, it could also go pretty dark with it, since Haller seems like a complicated character and antihero — which FX excels in.
