Paramount Pictures has released a trailer for the upcoming direct-to-DVD sequel to 2004’s Mean Girls, appropriately titled Mean Girls 2.  As expected, the original film’s wit and stars are nowhere to be found.  Instead, the film looks cheap, not funny, and just bad.  In fact, the only thing I kept thinking about while watching the trailer was how much I ended up enjoying Mean Girls, and how I wish Tim Meadows was a bigger star so that he wouldn’t have to be the only returning actor from the previous movie.  You can check out the poster, trailer, and read a plot synopsis for the film after the jump.

Here is the plot synopsis for Mean Girls 2. via Vulture

The story revolves around a new high school student, Jo, who agrees to befriend an outcast, Abby, at the urging of Abby’s wealthy father in exchange for paying all of Jo’s costs for the college of her dreams. Jo and Abby team up to take on the school’s “mean girls,” the Plastics. The story becomes a high stakes battle of loyalty that ultimately comes to a head when one of our heroines finds out that her friendship has been bought and paid for.
