The long-discussed Mechanic 2 is finally coming, and it now has a release date and a cast.  Summit Entertainment announced today that Mechanic: Resurrection will open in theaters on January 22, 2016 with a cast led by Jason Statham, Jessica Alba, Tommy Lee Jones, and Michelle Yeoh.  Statham reprises his role from the 2011 actioner, and the story kicks into gear when someone from his past forces him back into the business.  He must then “complete an impossible list of assassinations of the most dangerous men in the world.”  I barely remember the first Mechanic even existing, and I’m kind of flabbergasted to see Jones listed as part of the ensemble for the follow-up.  Nevertheless, German director Dennis Gansel (Die Welle) takes the helm this time around, taking over from Simon West.

Additionally, another Millennium Films production has been given a released date, as Summit will distribute Ariel Vromen’s (The Iceman) actioner Criminal on August 21, 2015.  The story revolves around a CIA agent whose memories and skills are implanted into the brain of a dangerous criminal in order to stop an international terrorist.  Kevin Costner, Ryan Reynolds, Gary Oldman, Gal Gadot, Alice Eve, and Tommy Lee Jones star.  Revisit the trailer for The Mechanic after the jump.
