Michael Giacchino – Exclusive Video Interview

     October 30, 2007

Earlier today I participated in video interviews with all the key people who made the brilliant, amazing, phenomenal, exceptional movie that is “Ratatouille.” In case you couldn’t put it together, I think the movie is an absolute work of art. It’s written and directed by Brad Bird, who’s previously made “The Incredibles” and “The Iron Giant” – two films that I love and adore.

Anyway, the reason for these new video interviews was to help promote next weeks DVD and Blu-Ray release of the movie. While I didn’t get a chance to try out the review copy that Disney sent us, I’ve heard that it’s loaded with extras and it hasa stunning transfer.

So the interview below is with Michael Giacchino, and he was the composer on “Ratatouille.” But while that’s a big deal to a lot of people, even more will want to watch this due to his work on “Lost.” Yup, he’s the one who creates the score for one of the best shows on TV.

During our time we managed to talk about both projects and if you’re a fan of his work, you’ll love the interview. And if you’d like to watch some clips from the “Ratatouille,” here’s a link to an article from earlier this summer.

Again, “Ratatouille” is one of my favorite films of the year. I cannot recommend it enough.

Michael Giacchino

  • Was he always a fan of Pixar before working on the film
  • How was coming up with the music for the film. Was it harder than he expected.
  • What’s his writing process like. He talks about writing for Lost.
  • I ask about the new season of Lost. He says he is about to start and has yet to see a new episode.
  • He talks about the end date for the show and tells a good story about getting spoilers from Damon and Carlton.
