20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for director Jake Szymanski’s upcoming comedy Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. The film stars Zac Efron and Workaholics star Adam Devine as a pair of rambunctious brothers who, facing their sister’s impending nuptials, are forced by their parents to find wedding dates to prevent any potential mishaps during the big event. The two subsequently go to national television to advertise their need for companions, at which point two women hoping for a wild getaway (played by Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza) devise a plan to tag along.

Szymanski has a lengthy resume of Funny or Die videos and Saturday Night Live segments, but he made his feature directing debut with Andy Samberg’s hilarious HBO mockumentary 7 Days in Hell. That film went to some genuinely absurd places, and while the trailer for Mike and Dave looks fairly tame, I’m hoping Szymanski’s resume means we’re in for something weird. If anything, the movie appears to give Kendrick and Plaza the chance to play against the "comedy female co-star" trope, making the film's female characters just as crazy—if not moreso—than the screwup male protagonists.

Check out the full trailer below, via Fox. Scripted by Neighbors co-writers Andrew Jay Cohen and Brendan O’Brien, the film also stars Stephen Root and Sam Richardson. Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates opens in theaters on July 8th.
