To me, for better and for worse, this feels like the kind of quirky dark comedy we were getting on the regular back between 1999 and 2004.  Now, not so much.  Which is to say that this trailer for Miss Meadows is simultaneously refreshing and stale.  For what it's worth I'm definitely interested in seeing this, I'll take a formula I haven't seen in a while over a formula I'm exposed to every day.  And I happen to think Katie Holmes is a strong performer who took herself off the scene right before she started getting really interesting roles.   The film is written directed by Karen Leigh Hopkins, who directed the apparently abysmal Because I Said So, but I will hold out a sliver of hope regardless.

In Miss Meadows Holmes plays a sweet and proper elementary school teacher whose perfect manners and pretty floral dresses hide a dark secret: when she's not teaching at the local elementary school or tending to her garden, she's moonlighting as a gun-toting vigilante.  The film also stars James Badge Dale, Mary Kay Place and Jean Smart.  Hit the jump for the Miss Meadows trailer.  Entertainment One releases the film on November 14th.
