20th Century Fox has released a new trailer for Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Directed by Tim Burton, the film is based on the novel of the same name by Ransom Riggs and stars Asa Butterfield as a young boy who stumbles upon a secret refuge for supernaturally gifted youngsters, headed up by the mysterious Miss Peregrine (Eva Green). However, Butterfield’s character soon learns that the children are in danger from ever-growing malevolent forces.

At the very least, this looks like a special effects extravaganza that's beyond anything Burton has attempted to tackle before.  The shorthand "Tim Burton's X-Men" isn't unwarranted, but it still looks like a fun time at the movies, and I'm eager to see what the director has accomplished with his latest feature.  He definitely seems to have captured the fun part of his "peculiar" creation.

Check out the trailer below. The film also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Judi Dench, Chris O’Dowd, Allison Janney, Terence Stamp, Kim Dickens, and Rupert Everett. Scripted by Jane Goldman (Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class), Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children opens in theaters on September 30th.
