David Koepp's action comedy Mortdecai started filming a couple of months ago, and now some new cast members have joined in the fun.  Lionsgate and OddLot Entertainment announced today that Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), Oliver Platt (X-Men: First Class) and Jeff Goldblum (The Grand Budapest Hotel) have signed on to the Johnny Depp-led picture.  Based on Kyril Bonfiglioli's anthology, Mortdecai follows a charming art dealer as he traverses the globe in an effort to reclaim a stolen painting rumored to contain a code to a bank account full of Nazi gold.

Also starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Ewan McGregor, Olivia Munn and Paul BettanyMortdecai doesn't yet have a release date but is expected to open some time this year.  Hit the jump for more.

SANTA MONICA and CULVER CITY, CA (January 9, 2014) – Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF) and OddLot Entertainment announced today that Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation, THE TO DO LIST, SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED), Golden Globe® and Emmy® nominee Oliver Platt (X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, LOVE & OTHER DRUGS, 2012) and Academy Award® and Emmy® nominee Jeff Goldblum (INDEPENDENCE DAY, JURASSIC PARK) have joined the cast of the action comedy MORTDECAI. The film, based on the popular three-novel anthology by Kyril Bonfiglioli, wrapped production in London and is currently in production in Los Angeles.

Plaza, Platt and Goldblum join an all-star cast led by Johnny Depp and featuring Gwyneth Paltrow, Ewan McGregor, Olivia Munn and Paul Bettany.  Additional cast previously announced include Guy Burnet, Michael Byrne, Michael Culkin, Jonny Pasvolsky, Ulrich Thomsen, and Paul Whitehouse. David Koepp is directing the film from a screenplay by Eric Aronson.  Andrew Lazar, Johnny Depp, Christi Dembrowski and OddLot’s Gigi Pritzker are producing the project.

Aubrey Plaza currently stars on NBC’s critically acclaimed series Parks and Recreation, and recently starred in the feature film THE TO DO LIST and lent her voice to the enormously successful MONSTERS UNIVERSITY.  Plaza also starred in such films as SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED, FUNNY PEOPLE and SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD, and will next star in LIFE AFTER BETH.

Oliver Platt, star of film, television and stage, most recently appeared in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, LOVE & OTHER DRUGS, 2012 and FROST/NIXON. On television, Platt starred in Showtime’s Huff, receiving a Golden Globe® and back-to-back Primetime Emmy® nominations for his role.

Jeff Goldblum’s long and acclaimed career spans film, television and theater. His credits include some of the highest-grossing films of all time including JURASSIC PARK and INDEPENDENCE DAY as well as such classics as THE BIG CHILL and THE FLY. Recently, Goldblum has appeared in MAN OF THE YEAR and THE SWITCH, and will next be seen in director Wes Anderson’s THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL. On television, Goldblum starred in Law & Order: Criminal Intent among many other credits.

Juggling some angry Russians, the British Mi5, his impossibly leggy wife and an international terrorist, debonair art dealer and part time rogue Charlie Mortdecai (Depp) must traverse the globe armed only with his good looks and special charm in a race to recover a stolen painting rumored to contain the code to a lost bank account filled with Nazi gold. 

MORTDECAI marks the first project under Lionsgate and OddLot’s multiyear, multipicture co-financing and distribution deal which the companies announced last year.
