Mr. Robot was one of 2015’s unexpected delights, a dark and cinematically-filmed journey from USA through the mind, really, of a hacker named Elliot (Rami Malek, in a defining performance) as he was goaded forth into enacting real, world-ending change by a mysterious mentor of sorts called Mr. Robot (Christian Slater).

Elliot’s journey took some very interesting twists throughout Season 1, and if you haven’t finished the season I won’t spoil them for you. In fact, the new trailer is also generic enough that you won’t get spoiled by it — suffice to saw, Elliot is still warring against the world, and attempting to play a part in a revolution against the rich, powerful, and corrupt. As we saw towards the end of Season 1, that led to some major consequences not only for Elliot, but for his friend Angela (Portia Doubleday) as well as Mr. Robot and their entire coterie of hackers (including Carly Chaikin, Ron Cephas Jones, and Sunita Mani). Still, there’s clearly more to come (as well as the question where is Martin Wallstrom’s Tyrell Wellick?!) Check out the new promo below:

There’s something both rousing and a little lamentably generic in Elliot’s call to arms in the promo, which tells us “together we can change the world, choose our future, and there’s nothing they can do to stop us.” But very surely they will try.

We don’t know very much about the upcoming season, although creator and showrunner Sam Esmail (who will be directing all of Season 2’s episodes) recently dropped a few hints about the show continuing to play mind games, and also tackling themes of privacy and data encryption. Whatever is coming, though, I trust it will be great.

Mr. Robot will premiere later this year on USA.
