Bob and Harvey Weinstein’s newly minted TWC-Dimension label has snatched up another project.  The company will team up with Endgame to produce the action comedy Murder Mystery, with The Proposal director Anne Fletcher signing on to take the helm.  Written by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, White House Down), the film revolves around a married couple that takes a long-delayed honeymoon in the hopes of saving their marriage.  When one of their fellow cruise ship passengers turns up dead, the two set out across Europe to track down the murderer and maybe salvage their relationship in the process.

Both Kevin Macdonald (State of Play) and John Madden (Shakespeare in Love) were at different points attached to direct Murder Mystery, and Charlize Theron was initially poised to star in Madden’s iteration.  Obviously those directors fell off, but Theron is still involved as a producer.  Fletcher most recently helmed The Guilt Trip.  Hit the jump to read the press release.

Here’s the press release:

New York, NY, September 24, 2013 – Bob and Harvey Weinstein’s TWC-Dimension announced today that they are teaming up with Endgame on the action whodunit comedy MURDER MYSTERY.  Anne Fletcher (THE PROPOSAL, 27 DRESSES) is set to direct with a script written by James Vanderbilt (ZODIAC, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, WHITE HOUSE DOWN).  In the film, a married couple takes the honeymoon they never had in hopes of saving their struggling marriage, but soon find themselves in the middle of their very own murder mystery when one of their fellow cruise passengers is found dead.  They must travel across Europe to discover the true murderer’s identity while trying to reignite the spark to their relationship.

MURDER MYSTERY is the second film to be announced under the new moniker TWC-Dimension that has the brothers working together on films for which they share a common passion.  Several other projects are also in negotiations under TWC-Dimension that will be announced at a later date.

"MURDER MYSTERY is a throwback to Agatha Christie novels with a comedic spin.  We have been huge fans of Anne Fletcher for years and have wanted to work with her.  This film seems like the perfect project to team up with Anne, Endgame and Tripp," said Bob Weinstein and Harvey Weinstein, co-chairmen of The Weinstein Company.

"James's script is absolutely great. It's a modern version of the old ‘Nick and Nora’ movies... it has it all - suspense, romance and humor,” stated Endgame Entertainment’s James D. Stern.  “Bob and Harvey shared that sentiment and I am thrilled to partner with them again, and Anne is just the perfect director to bring this story to the screen.”

Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson are producing along with Vanderbilt, Endgame Entertainment’s James D. Stern and Oscar®-winner Charlize Theron via her Denver and Delilah Productions banner.  Endgame’s Douglas E. Hansen, Tower Hill’s William Shively and Denver and Delilah’s Beth Kono and A.J. Dix will executive produce.

Overseeing production for TWC-Dimension are SVP of Production and Creative Affairs, Matthew Signer and VP of Production and Development, Keith Levine; for Endgame, President of Production Julie Goldstein and Lucas Smith, Sr. Vice President of Development.

The deal was negotiated for TWC-Dimension by Phillip Muhl, President Business and Legal Affairs, and for Endgame by Greg Schenz.
