Netflix: Here's What's Leaving in July 2016

The objection that Netflix has become more interested in its own programming than maintaining a decent library of new and old classics becomes a bit louder with the announcement of what is leaving the streaming site come July. A lot of great titles are getting cut, mostly in movies, and from the looks of what's coming to Netflix in July, the balance will not be corrected.

Top of the list on this exodus is seven of the Star Trek movies, including three or four of the best ones: Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Star Trek: Generations, and Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan. On top of this, there's two Stanley Kubrick classics (A Clockwork Orange, 2001: A Space Odyssey), one of John Ford's best films (The Quiet Man), and two of the best comedies of the aughts (Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and Team America: World Police) that are expiring. In comparison, the fact that more minor but meaningful works like Bulworth, Witness, Best in Show, Mouse Hunt, and The Central Park Five isn't quite as sad, but taken as a whole, this is a major cut.
