Netflix is going all-in on U.K. creators, adding seven new original series from across the pond to its slate. All the projects will be written and shot domestically, and the range of names on this list are about as varied as humanly possible. Think "on a scale from Mr. Bean to 1917."

Oscar-winner Sam Mendes and his Neal Street Productions team is behind a six-part series titled The Red Zone, billed as being "a comedy about football, but also not about football." Attack the Block filmmaker Joe Cornish will write and direct a supernatural action-adventure series, Lockwood & Co. Elsewhere, comedy icon Rowan Atkinson is set to star in a ten-episode short-form series in which "a man finds himself at war with a bee while housesitting a luxurious mansion."

Other notable additions include an adaptation of Stuart Turton's mind-bending mystery novel The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle from write/creator Sophie Petzal and a horror story, Cuckoo Song, co-written by Sarah Dollard (Bridgerton), Andrea Gibb (Dear Frankie), and Corinna Faith (The Innocents).

“Setting up a team entirely based in the U.K. was always about being able to better connect to the fantastic program makers we have here — to provide a space for writers, producers, directors and actors that feels local, friendly and familiar but also provides talent the opportunity to make shows that will impact on a global scale. U.K. -made stories really do speak to the world,' said Anne Mensah, VP of U.K. Original Series at Netflix.
