After a bumpy ride filled with rumors, reshoots, and release date changes, we're finally a few months out from Dark Phoenix, the big screen X-Men tale written and directed by Simon Kinberg. (And the last one before the mighty Disney machine gobbles those characters up like Galactus.) 20th Century Fox released a new image from the film that sees Michael Fassbender's Magneto—who looks like he just went through a seriously violent ordeal and/or revisited 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand—palling around with the mutants Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Red Lotus (Andrew Stehlin), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee), and Selene (Kota Eberhardt).

The most interesting part about the photo, besides the fact that Magneto has clearly seen some Serious Shit, is that the master of magnetism appears to be getting pushed down the hallway in a wheelchair, mirroring his on-again-off-again best bud slash sworn enemy Charles Xavier (James McAvoy). Charles isn't pictured, obviously, and neither is the film's main attraction, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, whose transformation into the godlike Phoenix will spark a war between X-men and humanity alike.

Until then, check out the image below. Dark Phoenix—which also stars Jennifer Lawrence, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain—hits theaters on June 7.

Here is the official synopsis for Dark Phoenix:

In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.
