Ahead of its big Super Bowl spot on Sunday, Paramount Pictures has released a new poster for director Darren Aronofsky’s Biblical epic Noah.  The film is Aronofsky’s take on the Great Flood story from the Bible, and as we can see in this new poster, the filmmaker is going heavy on the “epic” portion of the tale.  Russell Crowe sports a pretty gnarly beard while holding a small axe in one hand, as if to suggest that the film will find Noah battling more than just heavy rain and flood waters.  Aronofsky has been passionate about bringing Noah to the screen for years, so I’m interested to see what his vision for the pic entails.  From what we’ve seen so far, Noah looks to be the filmmaker’s most “commercial” work yet, but time will tell if that’s just Paramount trying to appeal to the widest possible audience.  I’m hopeful for some Aronofsky weirdness.

Hit the jump to check out the poster.  The film also stars Ray Winstone, Jennifer Connelly, Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Douglas Booth, and Anthony HopkinsNoah opens in traditional theaters and IMAX on March 28th.

Here’s the official logline for Noah:

Academy Award® winner Russell Crowe stars as Noah, a man chosen by God for a great task before an apocalyptic flood destroys the world.
