It’s been well over a year since Now You See Me accumulated more than $350 million at the worldwide box office, but things are finally coming together for the sequel.  Lionsgate just gave Now You See Me 2 a June 10, 2016 release date, and while talking to Mark Ruffalo at the Toronto International Film Festival, he confirmed that "everyone's in."

The original centered on Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher and Dave Franco's The Four Horsemen, but considering how that film wrapped up, Ruffalo's role is bound to take an interesting turn in the sequel.  Hit the jump for more on Now You See Me 2.

First off, who thought Now You See Me would turn out to be such a big hit?  Ruffalo certainly didn’t:

“I had no idea.  Not to the level that it did.  I just didn’t have any idea.  When I was making it, I was like, ‘This is fun and I love Louis,’ he knows how to shoot this stuff in a way that is appealing to people, but I had no idea it was going to be what it’s turned out to be.”

The Now You See Me 2 release date news only first arrived right around the time of our interview with Ruffalo, so he was likely unaware that certain details had been confirmed when he expressed some doubt regarding the status of the film:

“As of this moment I am part of the sequel and we are starting to shoot in November.  Unless something goes terribly off kilter between now and the next couple weeks when a script comes out, I’m in.  Everyone’s in, but we’re still in a kind of wobbly space.”

One of the reasons Ruffalo might have been under the impression that the project was in a “wobbly space” is because he wasn't aware a director had been locked in.  When we asked him who's helming the project, he replied:

"I don’t know for sure."

However, right along with that release date announcement came the confirmation that Jon M. Chu is indeed directing the film.  Back in June it was reported that Chu was the frontrunner for the gig, but now it's official; Chu is in.  Perhaps all of this will clear up any doubts Ruffalo has and Now You See Me 2 really will go into production in November.
