Director Oliver Hirschbiegel (Downfall) has signed on to helm the thriller The Dark Side of the Moon based on the novel by Martin Suter.  Per Variety, "The story centers on a successful attorney whose life is turned upside down after a mind-opening mushroom trip. Realizing that all he has strived for has ceased to make sense, he begins to withdraw from society."  David Marconi (Live Free or Die Hard) wrote the script.  Shooting is set to begin next spring Switzerland, Germany and France, and casting announcements are expected in the coming weeks.

Hirschbeigel most recently directed the drama Five Minutes of Heaven starring Liam Neeson and James Nesbitt.  The Dark Side of the Moon has been translated into eight languages.
