There hasn't been a year without a Woody Allen movie in theaters since 1981 (seriously), and this year's is the Cannes-bound You Will Meet a Tall Dark StrangerAllocine has several on-set photos and a clip in which we see cast members Naomi Watts and Antonio Banderas try their hand at Allen's stuttering dialogue.  The impressive lineup also includes Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, Freida Pinto, and Anna Friel in the story of "different members of a family, their tangled love lives, and their attempts to try and solve their problems."

As the logline isn't too helpful, you'll find Watts's comments alongside the photos and the clip after the break.

In response to the valid question, "What is this movie about?", Watts told Black Book [via The Playlist****]

"It centers on Josh Brolin's character, my husband in the film. He is a writer and things aren't going well for him and our relationship. I want a baby and he doesn't. There's one twist in it that I don't want to go into, but he's trying to try to find a way to start his second book. He's written one and he's kind of scared of being a flash in the pan. I'm like, 'Okay, if you're not going to give me a baby, I'm going to get my career back. I need something in my life.' I've got this mother who is sort of crazy and into the whole New Age-y thing. She can't stand my husband because, basically, we're living off her money. Everyone's doing mean things to one another. There's no massive plot."

We're definitely not dealing with a high concept film here, not that we should have expected such a career development.  (Although, the title describes a pretty clear concept.  In six words.  Hmm.)  I'm particularly interested in seeing Freida Pinto's first role since her enchanting debut in Slumdog Millionaire; she is, of course, in capable hands.

After its Cannes premiere, You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger is slated to hit theaters September 23, 2010.
