Christopher Nolan is one of the few directors who can get just about any actor he wants for his movies. However, as we previously reported, his next film, Dunkirk, will be looking for unknowns in the lead roles and bolstering them with name talent in the supporting cast. The film has already set Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance, and Kenneth Branagh for supporting roles in the World War II action thriller, and yesterday we reported that they were eyeing newcomer Fionn Whitehead for one of the lead roles.

Today, Deadline reports that the production is eyeing a young man who doesn’t have any feature film credits, but is far from unknown. One Direction singer Harry Styles has been offered a role in the film, although Deadline notes that “It is not believed to be a leading role.” It sounds like when it comes to the leads, Nolan definitely doesn’t want any audience baggage attached to the main characters, although how that factors into the plot remains to be seen.
