Less than two weeks after first opening in theaters, Sony Pictures is releasing an extended “fan cut” of director Morgan Spurlock’s concert documentary One Direction: This Is Us.  The new cut, which is titled One Direction: This Is Us – Extended Fan Cut, will be released in theaters this coming Friday, September 13th and will boast an additional 20 minutes of new footage and four songs not previously in the movie.  If you saw This Is Us and desperately wanted to see more of the British boy band, now is your chance.  Hit the jump to read the full press release.

CULVER CITY, Calif., September 9, 2013 – In response to the fan support at the box office for TriStar Pictures’ hit film One Direction: This Is Us, the studio is releasing an extended cut of the film, in theaters this Friday, it was announced today by Jeff Blake, Chairman, Worldwide Marketing and Distribution for Sony Pictures.  One Direction: This Is Us – Extended Fan Cut will feature 20 minutes of new footage and four songs not previously in the movie.  The film has taken in an estimated $50 million worldwide since opening.

Commenting on the announcement, Blake said, “We’re overwhelmed by the response to the film, so we’re thrilled to be able to release this extended cut of the film for One Direction fans.  Followers can reach out on Twitter @1DThisIsUs with the songs they’d like to hear in the film – and go to the theater on Friday to see and hear which songs make the cut.”

Weaved with stunning live concert footage, this inspiring feature film tells the remarkable story of Niall, Zayn, Liam, Harry and Louis' meteoric rise to fame, from their humble hometown beginnings and competing on the X-Factor, to conquering the world and performing at London’s famed O2 Arena.
