While the Overwatch seasonal event for the Chinese New Year may be over, the new additions for the wildly addictive game keep on coming. Fresh off the Paris map debut, the good folks at Blizzard have now unveiled the new Overwatch hero Baptiste. This is the 30th character for the game, and he marks an exciting and fun new addition to the team. Here’s what you need to know.
Jean-Baptiste Augustin is a 36-year-old Combat Medic who was based out of Tortuga, Haiti and affiliated with the Caribbean Coalition and Talon. He’s a healer with a serious damage capability. His abilities are as follows:
Baptiste’s three-round-burst Biotic Launcher rewards accuracy and recoil control with significant damage output. It also doubles as a healing device, lobbing projectiles that heal allies near the point of impact.
Baptiste activates an intense regenerative burst that heals himself and nearby allies over time.
Baptiste uses a device to create a field that prevents allies from dying. The generator can be destroyed.
Amplification Matrix (Ultimate)
Baptiste creates a matrix that doubles the damage and healing effects of friendly projectiles that pass through it.
Exo Boots (Passive)
By first crouching, Baptiste can jump higher.
Baptiste is currently available on the PTR on PC, which means he should be playable for all Overwatch gamers shortly.
