With the 2011 awards season in full swing, the stars came out for the 22^nd Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala, held on January 8^th at the Palm Springs Convention Center. Award season contenders on the road to Oscar traveled to the desert town some 100 miles east of Hollywood to walk the red carpet, mingle and receive honors for their stand-out work in film.

In attendance at the event were Robert Duvall (Career Achievement Award winner), Natalie Portman (winner of Desert Palm Achievement Actress Award), Colin Firth (winner of Desert Palm Achievement Actor Award), the cast of The Social Network (winners of the Ensemble Performance Award), Ben Affleck (Chairman’s Award winner), Javier Bardem (winner of the International Star Award), Carey Mulligan (Breakthrough Performance Award winner), Jennifer Lawrence (Rising Star Award winner), Danny Boyle (winner of the Sonny Bono Visionary Award), Darren Aronofsky, Oliver Stone, Helen Mirren, Jake Gyllenhaal, James Franco, Amy Adams and Aaron Eckhart, among others.  Hit the jump for the images:
