Sony Pictures has unveiled the a teaser for the trailer for the original sci-fi drama Passengers. Yes indeed, it's that time once again where we watch a trailer for a trailer in the epitome of teaser culture. Scripted by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus) and directed by Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game), the film stars Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt and takes place on a luxury spaceship bound for a human colony that’s 120 years away. Given the length of the journey, the 5,000 passengers are put into hypersleep, but when two of the passengers are mysteriously awakened 90 years too early, they strike up a relationship and quickly become the ship’s only hope of recovering from a serious malfunction.

You won't see too much in this trailer tease, but the ship design looks pretty spectacular, and boy are Pratt and Lawrence pretty. Spaihts script landed on the Black List and has been praised throughout Hollywood for years, with a previous iteration of the film set to star Keanu Reeves, but after scoring a Best Director Oscar nomination this is the film that The Imitation Game helmer Morten Tyldum decided he wanted to direct. Thus, the large-scale sci-fi romance finally came to fruition.

Watch the teaser for the Passengers trailer below, and check back tomorrow to watch the actual trailer. The film opens in theaters on December 21st and also stars Michael Sheen, Laurence Fishburne, and Aurora Perrineau.
