Ever since Sony Pictures and MGM announced director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, Southpaw) would be remaking The Magnificent Seven I’ve been excited to see it. The tremendous cast includes Denzel WashingtonChris PrattByung-Hun LeeManuel Garcia-RulfoVincent D’OnofrioEthan HawkeMartin Sensmeier, Matt BomerHaley Bennett, and Peter Sarsgaard. Scripted by True Detective writer/showrunner Nic Pizzolatto and Richard Wenk (The Equalizer), the film revolves around seven outlaws who band together to protect a small town from a violent industrialist.

Shortly after seeing the film at the Toronto International Film Festival I landed an exclusive video interview with Peter Sarsgaard. Since he rarely tweets, I decided to joke around with him about his Twitter account. We also talked about the last time he had to audition for something and the challenges of filming The Magnificent Seven. Check out the interview above.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Magnificent Seven:

With the town of Rose Creek under the deadly control of industrialist Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard), the desperate townspeople employ protection from seven outlaws, bounty hunters, gamblers and hired guns – Sam Chisolm (Denzel Washington), Josh Farraday (Chris Pratt), Goodnight Robicheaux (Ethan Hawke), Jack Horne (Vincent D’Onofrio), Billy Rocks (Byung-Hun Lee), Vasquez (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), and Red Harvest (Martin Sensmeier). As they prepare the town for the violent showdown that they know is coming, these seven mercenaries find themselves fighting for more than money.
