The first image from the Japanese live-action adaptation of the video game Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney has been released. Takashi Miike (13 Assassins) directed the film, which centers on the courtroom conquests of rookie defense attorney Phoenix Wright. Miike previously described his adaptation as a “light comedy”, and judging by this image star Hiroki Narimiya is pretty much a dead-ringer for the video game character. The game itself was originally released on the Game Boy Advanced in Japan, and hit shelves for the Nintendo DS here in America spawning a couple of direct sequels. The movie was shot near Kyoto and is slated for release in Japan sometime next year. Whether or not the film opens with someone yelling "Objection!" is currently unknown.
