Disney has decided to shoot Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides in 3D.  For the past few months, the studio had been debating whether or not to shoot in 3D or convert in post. Thankfully, they've made the smart decision and at least they can now try and justify asking audiences to pay more to see it.

No word on what cameras they're using, but I'm sure with this being a Jerry Bruckheimer movie, it won't be done on the cheap.  Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides gets released May 20, 2011 with Johnny Depp returning as Captain Jack Sparrow, Penelope Cruz will play Sparrow’s love interest, Ian McShane (Deadwood) is in talks to play Blackbeard, the villain of the movie, and Astrid Bergès-Frisbey has been cast in the “key role” of Syrena, a beautiful and alluring young mermaid.  The film starts shooting next month on location in Hawaii, Great Britain and Los Angeles with Rob Marshall directing.
