At the tippy-tippy-top of my mountain of things I never wanted or asked for is Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the fifth movie in the beloved franchise that stars Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow. It's not like it's hard to figure out why they continue to make them (cue cash register sound effect) but the movie has packed on so much backstory and exposition with each incremental volume that the very idea of them adding more to the glut makes my head hurt. That's ignoring the fact that these movies have always been bloated, boring, and pointedly not-funny, with the arguable exception of the first film by Gore Verbinski.

Still, there's no denying that this movie will be released by the end of 2017 and that fans will show up, though likely not at the volume that they did for the last one. Those fans will be happy to know that our first look at the footage for the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie will be premiering tonight during the season finale of Fear the Walking Dead. The announcement comes via Walt Disney's Twitter feed with a teaser that features nothing more than the familiar skull and crossbones but with a different design. The Fear the Walking Dead finale airs at 9 p.m. EST on AMC and runs for two hours, so if you're not a fan of the show, you may have some thumb-twiddling in your future.

On top of this announcement, Disney has also released the first poster for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. And like the aforementioned teaser, the poster features little more than the skull-and-crossbones image and a small reminder that the film will see the light of day in 2017; the actual release date is May 26th, 2017. The fact that this movie will open up the Summer Blockbuster season in 2017 is, unfortunately, ever-present in my mind.

You can check out both the poster and the teaser right below.
