“What’s your sign?” It is one of the first and most popular questions we’re asked when we meet new groups of people. Your zodiac sign is a clear tell-all of your personality traits for some of us. The Pokemon's qualities in the anime line-up are similar to personifications of zodiac traits.

Aquarius - Haunter

Pokemon Haunter ghost lures above, right under the ceiling.

They are known for being progressive and independent, even though Aquarius do thrive in large groups. Aquarius has the biggest heart for helping others, even though they can also be temperamental.

Haunter thrives amongst his fellow ghost friends (Ghastly and Gengar). Like Aquarius, Haunters are vastly independent. Haunter thrives in strange, aloofness and has a unique and eccentric sense of humor.

Pisces - Jigglypuff

Jigglypuff stands on a yellow stage, holding a microphone in Pokemon.

Pisces is a gentle artistic soul and seem to have a strong desire to escape reality, primarily through music. They’re secretly a little fearful and sometimes too trusting of others due to their passion for attention.

Amongst all the Pokemon, Jigglypuff is sassy and makes itself the center of attention. Jigglypuff loves to sing for attention, and when its audience falls asleep, there’s a price to pay.

Aries - Charizard

Charizard flys in front of a blue background with its claws ready in Pokemon.

Aries is the most overly confident one out of all the zodiacs. The fiery zodiac sign is very determined, honest, and optimistic. They can also be a little impatient, moody, and short-tempered, but they always mean well.

Throughout the anime, we get to know Charizard through the one Ash carries with him. In the beginning, the fiery dragon proves to be stubborn and overconfident. This seems to be a trait throughout all Charizards; they are also prideful and short-tempered. Despite the shortcomings, Charizard shows signs of affection in its way.

Taurus - Snorlax

Pokemon Snorlax, eyes closed, jumps in front of a blue background with its arms out.

Even though Taurus is the most stubborn, they’re also devoted and reliable. Taurus are known to struggle with significant changes because they rely on stability. Despite being all or nothing types, they secretly want to be cuddled and comfortable.

There are quite a few Pokemon that comes to mind when we think Taurus, but the one that stands out the most is sleepy Snorlax. In several episodes (and games), Snorlax shows its stubbornness while sleeping and doesn’t want to be bothered. When a loved one needs protecting, Snorlax finally awakes from its dependable state to watch.

Gemini - Ditto

Pink Ditto stands in front of trees in Pokemon.

Geminis are one of the most charismatic of the signs. They’re gentle and curious, and even though they’re seen as inconstant and indecisive, Geminis are adaptable.

Gemini and Ditto are adaptable, quickly adjusting no matter how challenging the situation. Other than Ditto being able to change physically, Ditto is curious and observes. Perhaps Ditto isn't known as being one of the most powerful Pokemon, Ditto is one of the few that takes notice to very little details.

Cancer - Mewtwo

Mewtwo conjures a dark blue orb between its hands in Pokemon The First Movie

Highly imaginative Cancers tend to take on other people’s problems due to their loyalty. Even though they appear as susceptible individuals, they’re pretty insecure and can be manipulative.

Mewtwo’s powerful psychic abilities and unwillingness to back down from a challenge ideally line up with Cancers. Mewtwo holds onto the negative consequences of people’s actions as, like Cancers, don’t always seek to find and understand the reason of someone who may have wronged them.

Leo - Meowth

With a wide open smile, Team Rocket's Meowth stands on a road.

Like a lion, Leos never hide their prominent personality and always wants to stand out. They’re warm-hearted and humorous, but beneath it all, they have a stubborn side and can come off as vain.

Being the only one of his type who can talk, (Team Rocket’s) Meowth stands out by defying odds. Leos and Meowth make the perfect pair as they both stick with people they trust and have a quick wit.

Virgo - Psyduck

Psyduck holds its head in confusion in the middle of a battle arena in Pokemon.

Loyal, practical, and kind, Virgos are ones you always want on your side. Virgos tend to be shy and overly critical of themselves. They can also be judgmental towards others but with good intentions.

Like Virgos, there’s more than meets the eye for Psyduck. Both Virgos and Psyduck tend to keep to themselves but like to be socially included. The duck is essentially a personification of anxiety, and when he hits a breaking point, Psyduck can use the built-up tension to win the battles.

Libra - Ninetales

White fox Ninetales sits on a mountain top in Pokemon.

Libras see every side to each story which leads them to avoid confrontations. The air sign hates being alone and loves to get lost in a fantasy world. You don’t want to get on Libra's wrong side as they’re known to carry a grudge.

Ninetales prefers to keep to itself just like Libras. The canine Pokemon tends to be pessimistic but also very highly intelligent. Like Libras, you don’t want to be on Ninetales’ bad side as this is the one Pokemon that remembers and holds onto grudges and repays you with a curse.

Scorpio - Cubone

Lonely Cubone stands on a path, with its bone laying in the dirt beside him in Pokemon.

Being a Scorpio comes with being relatively misunderstood. Scorpios come across as brave and stubborn. Scorpios are resourceful, true friends, and highly loyal, meaning they’re the best while on your side. While Scorpios have a dark side, it’s mostly their exterior that’s rough. Inside, they’re sad, but they’ll hurt you right back if you betray them.

Cubone has a complex and challenging exterior and is ready to attack when a threat is near. A softie who cries at night due to past trauma is underneath the vigorous surface. Like Scorpios, Cubone continues to be kind-hearted and optimistic despite going through significant ordeals.

Sagittarius - Squirtle

Squirtle proudly stands with its arms out. Behind him, Ash and Bulbasaur celebrate victory in Pokemon The First Movie.

The archer sign tends to form opinions based on their pure emotion. While most Sagittarius are idealistic, they often make promises more than they can deliver. Sagittarius is also known for their keen sense of humor and generosity.

Squirtle likes to put on the “tough guy” persona with its rebellious nature. The water Pokemon also loves to make others laugh and use humor in the occasional spotlight making Squirtle and Sagittarius the perfect match.

Capricorn - Vaporeon

Mermaid like Vaporeon sits in the midst of a dirt battle arena in Pokemon.

Capricorns had to be an adult at a very young age. They’re responsible and highly self-disciplined. Due to their know-it-all nature Capricorns come off as condescending, but they’re not going to let anything, including their emotion, stand in their way of success.

Like Capricorns, Vaporeon is extraordinarily hard-working and won’t let anything stand in their way. This water Pokemon always stays calm and logical no matter what obstacle stands in front of Vaporeon.
