With over eighteen millions views, it’s safe to assume most of you have seen or heard about producer Adi Shankar and director Joseph Kahn’s Power/Rangers starring Katee Sackhoff and James Van Der Beek. While the past week has been turbulent for the short film – it was pulled off YouTube and Vimeo over a copyright claim and then put back online – most were impressed with the dark, violent spin on the 90s classic, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. I was.

I think the other thing I liked about the short was it came out of left field. Until it premiered, no one had heard about it. We hadn’t been inundated with trailers and TV spots. The short premiered and we watched. It helped that the film was really well done, with high production values and non-stop action.

You might be wondering how many people worked on the short and what went into making Power/Rangers look so cool. To answer that question, Shankar is letting us premiere a six minute behind-the-scenes video of the making of the film which features the cast and crew on set and in post-production. Check it out below.

Finally, if you haven’t seen Power/Rangers yet or watched Shankar explain why he wanted to make the film, I’d start here and then come back.
