The core cast of director Dean Isrealite's (Project AlmanacPower Rangers movie is coming together one color of the rainbow at a time. After locking in their pink ranger and red ranger, Lionsgate announced today that they have found their Black Ranger in Ludi Lin.Lin is a relative newcomer with only has a handful of credits to his name, including an appearance in Netflix's Marco Polo series and, most recently, this year's Monster Hunt, which has become a box office success in China. As the third announced cast member, Lin joins Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger and Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger.

Israelite has described the Power Rangers reboot as “a fun, joyful [movie] but one that feels completely grounded in a real world”. Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama (The Last Witch Hunter) turned in an early draft of the script, with Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz subsequently developing a “mature but still playful” take on it.

In case you missed our exclusive report, here’s the character description for the Black Ranger.

17 years old, always the life of the party. Filled with bravado and swagger, Zack’s tough and cool on the exterior. A charming guy who’s never had trouble with the one-liner, nor lacked confidence around women. A great athlete that’s never wanted to play on any team but his own. Zack advertises everything about himself, except the truth, which is that he lives in a trailer park with his single mom, and because of it, feels deeply inferior to all his peers.
