Lionsgate has unveiled a series of character posters from the upcoming Power Rangers movie, giving us a closer look at the new ensemble. The studio enlisted Project Almanac filmmaker Dean Israelite to take the helm of the new film, and his vision for this iteration of Power Rangers skews colorful and teen-centric. The story follows five high school kids who must become extraordinary when they discover their small town is in danger of being obliterated by an alien threat—namely Elizabeth Banks’ classic villainess Rita Repulsa.

The suits that the Power Rangers receive are “alien costumes” that grow on the characters and are not manmade, and I’m mighty curious to see how Israelite and his team work to make the Power Rangers fit within a modern blockbuster context. Regardless, these new character posters offer a nice look at each Ranger, and they are as follows:

  • Ludi Lin as Black Ranger Zack
  • Naomi Scott as Pink Ranger Kimberly
  • RJ Cyler as Blue Ranger Billy
  • Becky G as Yellow Ranger Trini
  • Dacre Montgomery as Red Ranger Jason

The majority of the cast is made up of newcomers, with Cyler probably serving as the most recognizable name given his standout turn in last year’s Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. The cast also includes Bryan Cranston as alien recruiter Zordon, and the adventures will kick off on March 24, 2017. Will this Power Rangers movie spawn a new franchise or is this a one and done? We shall see…
