The heroic cast for Dean Israelite's Power Rangers film has finally been assembled! As we previously reported, Naomi Scott stars as the Pink Ranger, with Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, and RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger. Today's news brings word that Becky Gomez will play the role of the Yellow Ranger in the 2017 action film.

Gomez has a number of TV roles under her belt with recent appearances on Fox's Empire, as well as numerous soundtrack credits for such films as Hotel Transylvania and The Smurfs 2. Her addition to the young cast is in keeping with the theme of hiring up-and-coming actors to play the title roles. Now that the main cast is complete, we'll hopefully start to hear more about supporting cast decisions which could include some more recognizable names to help generate buzz. There are quite a few major roles to be cast yet, so we'll bring you that news when we hear it.

Here's a look at the casting announcement for the Yellow Ranger, courtesy of Power Rangers' Instagram:

With the actors set, we'll also hopefully get final confirmation on the character names and descriptions once the script is locked and Power Rangers goes into production. Here's what the characters are named at the moment:

  • Callum Oliver – The Red Ranger/Tyrannosaurus

  • Priya Patel – The Pink Ranger/Pterodactyl

  • Brian Olson – The Blue Ranger/Triceratops

  • Oscar Fernandez – The Black Ranger/Mastodon
