Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's highly anticipated, long-developed Preacher adaptation finally imminent. Based on the beloved graphic novel by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, the series will debut on AMC May 22nd, and for the event of today's WonderCon panel, the network has rolled out a new promo image. Earlier this month, we got a look at Dominic Cooper's Jesse Custer, Joseph Gilgun's Cassidy and Ruth Negga's Tulip, but Ian Colletti's fan-favorite character, Arseface, was kept under wraps. No more! Here he is, in all his arse-y glory, and noticeably different from his comic book counterpart.

Back in January, Rogen spoke about coming up with the Arseface design at Preacher's TCA panel, explaining why he didn't want to emulate the character's comic look directly.

“There had been something online that existed of some test that someone had done that looked exactly like how it looked in the comic, and as soon as I saw that, I knew we should not try to make it look exactly how it looked in the comic, and we should take some license and try to make it something maybe a little more … palatable, I guess might be the word. And we wanted the character to being sympathetic and ultimately, like, someone you really rooted for.”

Now, you can finally see what he was talking about. Colletti's Arseface definitely looks different from his comic origins, but having seen the pilot, I've got to say, this design really works. For the same reasons you won't see Cassidy in his sunglasses throughout the whole series, you need to be able to see Arseface's eyes. Especially since expression in his lower mouth is all but eliminated. Much like the pilot as a whole, it may not be identical to the source material, but the spirit is spot on, and Colletti will break your heart with Arseface's beautiful spirit and mangled visage. Get your first taste (just hopefully not of his genuinely repulsive sustenance) in the image below.
