With just under a month before Preacher finally gets its long, long, long-in-development on-screen adaptation, AMC has released a new set of images introducing the ecclectic ensemble of characters. Domic Cooper stars as Jesse Custer, a wayward preacher who is taken over by an almighty power and teams up with his unpredictable ex-girlfriend Tulip (Ruth Negga) and a cocksure Irish vampire Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) to find God, literally.
The new images show off the gorgeous cinematography of the pilot (there's just something about that New Mexico light), of which I am a huge fan. Preacher has always been considered an unadaptable property, but the creative team behind the new series has delivered the best kind of adaptation; one that honors the source material without becoming beholden to it.
Based on the beloved comic by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg developed the series for AMC, and brought on Breaking Bad‘s Sam Catlin as showrunner. Preacher also stars Jamie Anne Allman, Lucy Griffiths, Euphrates “Tee” Arthur,W. Earl Brown, and Thomas Barbusca and premieres on AMC May 22nd.
