Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's Preacher pilot for AMC -- based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's 90s comic -- has another bit of co-lead casting info. Though we still don't have our Jesse Custer, we now have our Irish vampire, Cassidy, who will be played by Joseph Gilgun (This Is England).

Deadline describes the character as,

The most wild-ass, bestest “bro” you’d ever want to meet. He may be 100 years dead but no one’s more boisterously alive than Proinsias Cassidy. An incorrigible mischief-maker, Cassidy’s up for anything — joyriding, bungee-jumping, bank robbing, peyote dropping. He’s also a relentless conversationalist with opinions on everything from religion to politics to pop culture to theories on why people are better able to tolerate the odor of their own flatulence.

So just an Irishman. If you've seen any of the gritty This Is England series, you know that Gilgun is an excellent actor, who can go at it hard while still maintaining a charming magnetism (although in Lockout he's just straight-up terrifying).

Though Jesse has not been cast yet, there are rumors that Dominic Cooper is in talks for the lead. What we do know for sure, though, is that Ruth Negga has been cast as Jesse's ex-girlfriend Tulip, and Ian Colletti was selected to play Arseface, who is a living reminder of how wrong a botched suicide attempt can go. Breaking Bad writer Sam Catlin will serve as the series' showrunner.

Here's the official series synopsis from AMC:

Based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s twisted ’90s comic book series, “Preacher” is about Jesse Custer, a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who merges with a creature that has escaped from heaven and develops the ability to make anyone do anything he says. Along with his ex-girlfriend, Tulip, and an Irish vampire named Cassidy, the three embark on a journey to literally find God.

The pilot is currently set to film this summer, and will be ready for 2016 series consideration.
