We're getting closer and closer to the premiere of AMC's Preacher series from Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg, based on the comic from Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon. I was fortunate enough to view the pilot back in January during the winter TCA press tour, and I can assure you that it's bold, inventive, and brutally violent. The series stars Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer, a man who becomes possessed with a powerful spirit that aids him on his quest to find answers from the Almighty. But Jesse is also a complicated man with a dark past, as this newly released trailer highlights.

The new trailer also features one of my favorite sequences from the pilot, when Jesse's ex-girlfriend Tulip (Ruth Negga) gets two kids to help her make a homemade bazooka. In another, Cassidy (Joe Gilgun) asks Jesse the question we all have for him, and that he even has for himself: "Just what kind of a preacher are you?" See it all for yourselves below -- Preacher premieres May 22nd on AMC.

AMC also released two new images from the series, featuring Jesse along with Sheriff Root (the great W. Earl Brown), as well as one featuring DeBlanc (Anatol Yusef) and Fiore (Derek Wilson). For those unfamiliar with the comics, without going into spoilers I'll just say that the two are Vegas casino owners who are not what they seem, and will definitely be coming into conflict with Jesse.
