‘Prison Break’ Recruits More Original Cast Members for Revival Series

     March 17, 2016

FOX is hard at work getting the old gang together for the upcoming Prison Break revival series. Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell are set to return as brothers Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows, respectively, whose elaborate prison escape was the focus of the original series. The new self-described “event series” picks up years after Michael’s apparent death, sending Lincoln on the mission for a new big escape when he discovers that his brother may, in fact, be alive. And it seems he’s dragging some old cell mates into the action as original cast members Robert Knepper, Rockmond Dunbar and Amaury Nolasco are all set to return as well.

The original series revolved around Michael, a brilliant engineer, and his attempt to rescue Lincoln from prison for a death row crime he didn’t commit. Natch, Michael went about it by getting himself thrown into prison as well, and unleashing his elaborate, tattoo-centric escape plan from the inside. From the sound of it, the new series will flip the script, with Lincoln setting out to rescue Michael from….wherever he’s been all these years.

Here’s the updated synopsis,

In the drama’s new chapter, when clues surface that suggest a previously thought-to-be-dead Michael may be alive, Lincoln and Sara reunite to engineer the series’ biggest escape ever, as three of Fox River State Penitentiary’s most notorious escapees, T-Bag, C-Note and Sucre, are pulled back into the action.

The cast additions come on the heels of the news that Sarah Wayne Callies would reprise her role asDr. Sara Tancredi. Here are the details we’ve got on where she picks up in the new series.

“In the drama’s new chapter, which picks up after Michael’s apparent death, Sara has moved on with her life, raising her and Michael’s child with her new husband(previously announced guest star Mark Feuerstein, “Royal Pains”). When clues surface that suggest Michael may be alive, Sara teams with Lincoln to engineer the series’ biggest escape ever.

FOX’s new Prison Break series is set to debut sometime during the 2016-2017 season.
