Yet another filmmaker is heading to the small screen.  Brad Furman, who directed the solid 2011 Michael Connelly adaptation The Lincoln Lawyer, is now looking to adapt author James Patterson’s book series Private.  Deadline reports that Furman is onboard to direct the two-episode pilot and will write future episodes of the drama show, which is currently being pitched to networks as a straight-to-series project.  Private centers on a former Marine helicopter pilot who runs his own international private investigation company, which specializes in “maximum force, maximum discretion.”

Sonar Entertainment is producing the potential series, and one assumes that it’s only a matter of time before a network snatches this one up.  The question now is whether Private will head to cable or network TV.  Furman most recently directed the action-thriller Runner Runner starring Justin Timberlake and Ben Affleck, which hits theaters this September.  Hit the jump for a synopsis of Private.
