TV ratings for Sunday, October 5th are in, though CBS’ preliminary numbers are again useless due to football overrun.  Here’s a brief rundown:

  • Following last week’s impressive ratings for the big Family Guy/The Simpsons, Fox’s Sunday night comedies were all way down.  The series premiere of Mulaney—which I seemed to enjoy more than most—debuted to a low 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demo and scored 2.34 million viewers.  That’s not great, but in comparison to Fox’s other shows it isn’t exactly a death sentence just yet.  Bob’s Burgers premiered to a 1.4 rating and 3.16 million viewers, down from last season’s 2.2 rating, while Family Guy dropped huge from last week’s 4.5 rating to a 1.9 rating and 3.68 million viewers.
  • Elsewhere on Fox, The Simpsons was down from a 3.9 rating to a 2.0 rating and 4.32 million viewers, and the excellent Brooklyn Nine-Nine dropped a full ratings point from last week’s 2.6 to a 1.6 rating and 3.31 million viewers.
  • Over on ABC, however, Once Upon a Time showed a strong hold from its premiere, dropping just six tenths to a 3.1 rating and 8.6 million viewers.  Resurrection dropped seven tenths to a 1.8 rating and 6.15 million viewers and Revenge dipped two tenths to a 1.3 rating and 4.89 million viewers.
