Did that Spanish trailer for Regression pique your interest yesterday? If it did, you’re in luck because an English trailer just dropped and, naturally, it’s immensely more powerful when you can actually understand what the characters are saying. Alejandro Amenábar’s (Thesis, The Others) latest stars Ethan Hawke as Bruce Kenner, a detective assigned to investigate a case involving a young woman (Emma Watson) who’s accused her father (David Dencik) of “an unspeakable crime.”

The spot-on visuals and the metronome ticking gave yesterday’s trailer an especially eerie feel, but knowing what that imagery means ups the intensity and sheer terror of the scenario tenfold. We have seen our fair share of cult movies over the years, but the topic feels fresher than most genre go-to concepts and it also looks as though Amenábar might have come up with an especially interesting and thoughtful approach to it.

You can check out the English-language Regression trailer below as well as a few new behind-the-scenes images from the film. Keep an eye out for the full feature, which is due in theaters on August 28th via Dimension and The Weinstein Company.
