‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter’: New Trailer Sees Milla Jovovich Taking on Monsters

     October 7, 2016

Milla Jovovich and Paul W.S. Anderson‘s Resident Evil franchise has had a pretty good box office run since the first installment back in 2002. That’ll be coming to a close after its sixth and final installment, fittingly titled Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. Almost 15 years after the original film’s release, this last go-round will return to the source of the trouble as Alice (Jovovich) finds herself traveling to the Hive in Raccoon City. There, she and her toughened group of survivors will take on the well-armed forces of the Umbrella Corporation while being surrounded by monstrous enemies on all sides.

As for the new trailer, I’ll give it this: it looks like the film is going all-out to bring a satisfying conclusion to the fans who have stuck with it over the last 15 years. Only cracking just above $60.1 million at most domestically, the lion’s share of their ticket sales have come from international markets, especially the last two installments. So while Resident Evil prepares to close out its current cinematic franchise, one wonders whether or not Sony and Screen Gems have a reboot planned on the horizon.

Also starring Ali Larter, Shawn Roberts, Ruby Rose, Eoin Macken, Rola, Lee Joon-Gi, with William Levy, and Iain Glen. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter opens in theaters on January 27, 2017.

Here’s the movie’s official synopsis:

Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, Alice (Milla Jovovich) is the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead. Now, she must return to where the nightmare began – The Hive in Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.
