The plan was to start shooting the sixth installment of the Resident Evil film franchise in Cape Town at the end of last summer, but then Milla Jovovich found out she was pregnant.  Back in August, she told fans “it would be in everyone’s best interest to wait till the baby is born before we set out to try and tackle an RE movie.”  Now, with just 10 weeks to go until her baby is due, Jovovich took to social media yet again to update fans on the status of Resident Evil: The Final Chapter and confirm that it will go into production in August.

Here’s a snippet of what Jovovich posted on Facebook (via ComingSoon):

“I’m really proud of myself for not gaining the same amount of weight that I did with our first child (75 lbs.) because I have to be ready to start filming ‘Resident Evil- The Final Chapter’ in August of this year and I will also be nursing an infant simultaneously.”

According to CS, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is making its way towards a September 2, 2016 release, a time that’s proved to be a lucrative one for the franchise for the last four films.  The movie will also see the return of Wentworth Miller’s character, Chris Redfield.

Even though the Resident Evil film franchise is coming to an end after this one, back in October, Constantin Film announced plans to make a Resident Evil TV series, but there hasn’t been an update on that endeavor since.
